Trees raised specifically for making pencils.

Pencils are plastic these days.

if we didn’t harvest them for their delicious wood, trees would soon overrun the planet and kill us all!

Dixon and Faber-Castell both harvest their trees from forests where they plant new trees for every one harvested.

I was using a mechanical pencil by 3rd grade because I got tired of sharpening a wooden one, plus (being a lefty) I got way less schmutz on my writing hand.
