For a while I put monster models together. Until there were no more new ones.

I recall building those balsa wood airplanes and getting dizzy from the glue and paint. Pretty lucky I can recall…..

The models were so good that the Russians copied one of our submarines.

And the toxic smoke from lighting the glue. (Harshes your buzz a bit.)

The glue would ooze out of the tube when I was fitting the parts together. Needed one hand to hold them together and the other to apply the glue. So I would bite off the oozed glue.

Don’t worry, it never bithered me a bot.

Have you looked at what they charge for those model kits now? I wanted to do a few with my kids, but $30 or more for one of them is just insane.

But I have great memories of building the air fleet I had hanging from my ceiling. Man I miss being a teenager.

I just saw plastic car model kits in a store last month, over $20.00 each. I think I bought two for five dollars as a kid.

Here’s a collection of model kit adverts from comic books over the decades.
