Teacher: Miss Heart, are you trying to bribe me into putting your poem onto the smiley good work bulletin board? Heart: What? Bribe? Me, bribe? Oh, you mean this?! No, I was just airing it out, see? Money gets so damp and smelly in these little plastic purses, you know! Mrs. Lightfoot, I assure you I stand by the quality of my work and it would never occur to me to try to bribe you! Unless, of course, I thought that might work. Teacher: You'd have to do a lot better than a buck, kid. I'm on a teacher's salary, ya' know.

Did Calvin ever think of trying to bribe Miss Wormwood into getting out of trouble? I guess Heart was craftier.
