Instead, I open the school paper and see some stupid junk about George Lucas and "Star Wars"! Don't you know how to follow directions?! Dean: A cartoonist's whim will not be contained. Heart: I think all cartoonists have A.D.D.
Being an amateur cartoonist (my profile pic is the lead of my comic strip), I’ve found that it’s helpful to just have a single note in the notes app on my phone to jot down ideas—any ideas, even the bad ones. It gets crowded and long after a while but it’s a great bank of ideas to draw from for stories and gags, even if you end up abandoning some of the ideas because they’re not good enough or they don’t fit your style.
