Well now we know that Heart Of The City & Lio are related: One is about a little drama queen and her mother,and the other is about a weird little boy and his father.

It’s so sad to hear a child talk about a parent who left .. even if it’s just a comic strip.

Once, in a family-style (i.e., not a chain) Italian restaurant, I sampled what I thought was a french-fried onion ring. Our host told me it was calamari. Then he told me that calamari was the suction ring from an octopus’ tentacles. Bet you didn’t know that one!

Apologies for correcting you sjsczurek, or rather your host, but calamari is squid and it’s the entire body, minus the beak. The body is often cut crosswise into rings, then battered and fried. There are as many methods of preparation as there are cultures. Absolutely wonderful food no matter how it prepared.

Which explains how it all happen for Heart.

I’ve been wondering that, too… so maybe he might come into a future strip if he fails badly enough? :-s

With Heart, she had a dad who went to Broadway and never came back, and withLio, he had a mom who’s never comingback. She’s in Heaven.
