Used to have a casket maker on my bowling team, good money. It still leaves people standoffish, just our culture I suppose…

Embalming (in most jurisdictions) is optional. A cremation can still include an embalming, if there will be a viewing. Personally, I have never ‘warmed up’ to the idea of cremation. ;o)It’s not as environmentally friendly, either.

if I die from cancer or my parts can’t be harvested to help someone else I want my body donated to science so that some med student can have the extra practice.

Monkeyhead: Absolutely. If all else fails, and even med schools are getting picky, try “body farms”, at least the forensic data will be useful.

By “modern”, do you mean less than 20 years? Because that is when my dad was embalmed and he was intact, as I mentioned last night. Maybe in Canada, we don’t try to take everything to make money. I don’t know.
