“Thanos was put away by Spiderman not the Avengers.”
He’s a comic book supervillain. He can get put away by any number of heroes, but he keeps comin’ back. Dazzler (of all people) once squared away against Galactus.
By the way, Thanos also has a history with the Cosmic Cube, although I don’t know if that’ll provide any link between the current Avengers movie and the next one. The Cube has never struck me as a particularly compelling plot device, being too powerful and not specific enough. It’s just a glorified McGuffin, something the characters in the story care a great deal about but which the audience cares about not at all.
You needn’t concern yourself. It has made its billion dollars without you. I feel the same way about “Titanic” (that is to say, James Cameron is doing fine without my $12, which he will never see).
What I consider the BEST Hollywood movie of the last 25 years is “Shakespeare In Love”; a commercial and critical success, it made $100 million to which I was happy to contribute (I saw it 5 times in the theater, and bought the DVD the day it was released). The movie that I am most glad was made was “Synecdoche, New York”, which I don’t give a damn whether anybody other than me went to see because I got to see it (twice in the theaters, and again bought as soon as I could).
If you or anyone else is not inclined to see “Avengers”, far be it from me to talk you into it. It’s doing fine without you.

Nice touch! “Nuff Said” was a favorite phrase of the Marvel bullpen back in the silver age.

So much for my attempt to avoid giving away spoilers yesterday by using a hotlink. Thanks a lot, R.R.
