They must live miles away form Fairmount Park. They could have gone fishing in the Skunkhill,Surekill, Schuykill river. They could have caught some mutated sunfish.
My grandfather used to take us fishing in small ponds all over southern Indiana. We used to catch bluegill and catfish. Threw them back most of the time. It was the idea of fishing that appealed to us kids, not the eating….. Same with Dean and Heart, I guess.
I have a fond memory of fishing with my Grandfather when I was young. It was back in Arkansas and we went upstream from what was called the ‘Ole Blue Hole’ which was where the river ended in a beautiful pool where everyone swam. My pole was just a stick with a some string attached. My Grandfather baited my hook with a crawdad. My first cast was a winner and brought up my first fish. Life was simple then.
My 2 youngest girls had fun fishing with their uncle in NH this last week. I had fun watching them from a kayak. :-) He called it Skoby Pond. Google calls it Haunted Lake??

There was a time where my maternal grandfather (my only living grandfather growing up) and I tried to hunt quail, but did cans or something instead.

Such is life. Always without a fishing pole that you couldn’t use anyway. What?
