Family trivia:

When the first Star Wars movie came to Vancouver, the film print (it was the 70’s, remember) didn’t arrive on time for the much-hyped premiere showing at the Orpheum. My brother and friends were disappointed, but hung around downtown for the evening, then heard it on the radio that the print had landed and they were putting on a midnight showing. They raced to the theatre and got in on the very first showing.

One whole year later, I attended the very last showing at that theatre.

I loved Stratego. Put all the bombs around some miner so the other guy thinks that’s where the flag is…

I was there when the Orpheum was converted to a stage and concert venue and didn’t see the film until it was shown in a small town theater. My daughter (a skilled amateur modeler) and I, knowing the opening spaceship was only six feet long, were looking (unsuccessfully) for glue marks, paint bubbles, and other point-losers in model competition.

Sorry Kiddo but I don’t know of any theaters left that let you stay for the next showing without buying another ticket. Since they’ve all gone digital the same auditorium won’t necessarily play the same movie in it either

Two of my buddies played Stratego (on paper) all through first-year Physics and Chemistry lectures. One became a Minister, the other a University lecturer!

Just shove him in the garbage and watch the movie on your own.
