heart: What sicko invented homework?! heart: what crazed child-hating nutjob thought it was a good idea to torture kids outside the classroom with more reading and writing?! mom: I don't know, but he or she must've had it in for parents too. heart: Careful, mom...your handwriting has to look more like mine.
One thing I was sure of when I assigned homework as a teacher (both in India and Bhutan) was that no parents could help! Most of my children’s parents were illiterate or not educated enough. That’s why I’m proud of my students of that time. All of them learnt fairly good English and my literature students learnt how to appreciate good writing.
Of course, I was the most lenient of the faculty in all the schools I worked in, and depended on classwork for the teaching-learning process. A good portion of my old students, from 14 years ago are teachers themselves!
