In my 24 semesters of high school there was always an english class reading “The Hobbit” but, it was never one of mine. I read “The Hobbit” and the “Lord of the Rings” after high school. “Lord of the Flies”, no.
I was disappointed, I thought the book was about a super-hero who was the lord of flies (yes, lame power but not much different than Aquaman with the fishes).
Oh brother! Let’s hope Heart does not first read ‘Lord of the Flies’ for any ideas about government. Oh wait, that’s what seems to happen a lot with government.

If you think it’s bad now, Heart, wait until you get into college.

I remember reading Lord of the Flies in High School, my English teacher made it very interesting for us and we had hilarious conversations about it.

Read it… I took it to show just how low humans can go when left to their own devices. :-|

When I was young I read everything I could get my hands on. Never formally studied Lord of the Flies but it was definitely an interesting book.

They are only in middle school, seems a bit young to be reading that book. I didn’t have to read it till high school.
But it’s still an interesting look at what happens when a group of people are stranded somewhere and have to learn to get by and deal with each other.

Wait until Heart finds out that the student council can’t actually change any school policies.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Lord of the Flies was fine. Not great, but fine.
