Our younger daughter managed to always have her old phone die before a new model came out. (Including two ruined by steam in the bathroom while she took long showers.)
Pull the phone out of the toilet. Turn it off and remove the battery, if possible. Rinse the phone and battery well with distilled water. (Cheap like borscht. Keep a gallon handy.) Store in a bag of raw rice (silica gel is better) 24-48 hours. Recharge in a pot with a lid. Use as usual.
Unless I’m taking a shower, I always bring my phone into the bathroom. It’s just not in my hand when I do (I loop my belt through the loops on the case).
