I was pitching softball at Keesler AFB back in 1965. I had an ingrown wart on the end of my finger that was bothering me. I went to the base hospital and had it looked at. They sent me to the dermatologist. He was a weird little guy who had many moles on his face. He took a needle and shot pain killer under my fingernail. He said it would take a minute to get numb, then left the room.
I sat there until the numbness wore off and pain set in and decided I would go looking for him. He was in the hallway, talking to another doctor. He looked at me and said, “can I help you?” I showed him the end of my finger and he took it and examined it again and said, “I can take that out if you want”. He had completely forgotten me!
