You’d think by now the king would have been poisoned by one of the food-tasters. Maybe 17’s the charm.

This reminds me of the story of he woman who was talking about the deaths of her former husbands. She complained how the first three died from eating poison mushrooms.

“What about the fourth?”

“He died of a concussion. Wouldn’t eat the poison mushrooms.”

Yummy.

I’ve also wondered how a food taster helps in case of slow poisoning, e.g arsenic?
