One day after winding up in the dark in the basement once again, I went upstairs. I looked out the window and told my parents that it wasn’t me. The whole block was out.
It was November 9th, 1965 – AKA the Northeast Power Blackout. Fortunately, the experts blamed it on some relay in Ontario. I got away with that one.
