My younger sister got her degree in liberal arts. One of the side jobs she qualified for was drawing the chalk outline of dead people at crime scenes and she was able to keep the fries for herself. True story!
My grade school age daughter and I went to an abstract art show. I was telling her what I was seeing and she was pointing it out. The gallery docent started following us about 3 paintings back and looking at the art with a very puzzled look on her face.
Painter and teacher Cyril Sloane, a protegé of the renowned artist John Sloan always said that John Sloan insisted that in order to be an abstract painter – by definition, abstract means to take something away – “you had to be able to paint all the bricks on a building before removing any of them.”
