When we had them bad, I would close the bedroom door and turn on the bedside light (looked like his, in fact). Over the next 20 minutes, they would always fly up to the cone of light and land on the wall or ceiling in the cone of light. Never had a problem with them after I figured that out and used the flyswatter.
