Seen that happen once… In Buffalo, NY. A rig carrying beer went under a train bridge. The road dipped down to go under. The trailer was torn open and the cases of beer went everywhere. The cops had to keep people from walking off with everything. It is amazing how beer can make law abiding citizens turn into looters.
While they are doing this, what the heck is doing Ellie? Just getting drunk in her coach?, who would have though she would be the most toxic character of this comic?
TxDOT here in Texas marked a bridge at 16 ft. Regular 12 ft trailer top was shaved off! Seems they measured the height in the wrong place. They did it on the shoulder to stay out of traffic…..had they done the center they would have seen the error. They sent a bill to the trucking company for the bridge repairs. The driver should’ve known was the reason.
I drove with somebody who missed the 12’ 10" height warning sign, it was only four feet square. The low spot was at the far end, so the farther our 13’ 8" trailer went in, the tighter it fit. Not enough traction to go forward or back, letting air out of tires didn’t change anything, the cops were mentioning the approaching rush hour. The tow truck moved us 75 feet at $20 a foot, and we were free. Sadly, all the nice photos I took couldn’t transfer to my new phone.

I forget where it is, but there is a bridge known as “The Guillotine”, for the exact same reason.

There’s a bridge around here that does this all the time. It’s amazing how many people ignore the height warning.

Isn’t there a way that truckers can plot their path to avoid bridges that are too low? There ought to be an app for that!
