Mad Magazine once did a collection of poems dealing with football, closing with the referee; I think that I shall never see A shy or modest referee. Whenever there’s a clipping call, He struts off yardage with the ball, Then turns around to face the stands And makes grand motions with his hands. I wonder what he’s like to see when working games not on TV.
I will never again be able to watch a football game (at any level) and not think, “Attention-whoring busybody” whenever I see a referee call a penalty. laughing

Time for that quiz you were asking about.

Fun fact, those officials might just bring home more money than the players with the amount of bribes they accept.

Well Charlene that’s actually a great description of a lot of people in the sports business, just as bad as actors in most cases.

Some times they are Char, if they make the wrong call.

Referee and umpires of any sport have a job I would not like to have. No matter what the calls, they are always viewed as wrong by someone.

I always remember the refs who’d say, “Penalty…Oakland!” when the Raiders were on one of their fifteen-year road trips.
