It’s difficult to find an audio book that two people can enjoy together when their tastes don’t jive. However, it’s not a problem as my husband wants total silence when he drives if there’s bad weather, heavy traffic, twisty roads…We agree though that audio book are read much too slowly.
I used to have a 45 minute commute and listened to most of the Harry Potter books driving back and forth. Jim Dale managed to use a different voice for each character, and they sounded exactly the way you thought they would. (This was before the movies.)
I do both. I listen to audiobooks when I run out of my podcasts and I read books on Kindle every day too. I get double the amount of books read this way and I love it.
I should think listening to a book in the car would be dangerous. I’ve had a number of people at my library tell me about missing an exit because they were concentrating on the story.

My mind wanders too much to benefit.

I hate audiobooks. The voice in my head reads way better than the voice on the audio.

I like audio books. I’ve gotten through more books using Audible than I have actually reading.

With a long commute nothing beats an audio book.

For me listening to audio while driving will not work, I would lose out as I am watching out for traffic. Even at home, I would lose focus.

Are we supposed to recognize the author?
