There was a 1930s cartoon character called Cubby Bear. The character was known for its total lack of character and lack of resemblance to a bear (it was basically a hairy Micky Mouse). I like the cute in-joke here.
Our local police put out the word for people to stop calling 911 when they saw a bear. Bears don’t get relocated just for showing up near people. They also don’t get relocated just for going through your trash. An actual attack is what it takes.
And those are vanishingly rare. The odds of being attacked by a bear are one in 2.1 million. For comparison, your chances of dying in a car crash are about one in 103. And you’re much more likely to be killed by a vending machine than a bear.`
