I was just born in a regular hospital, out of wedlock.

Those two last panels are perfection in comic “timing”, art, and wit!!

Yugo sales ended in the US in 1992. (And it would have cost more to ship them to the US from countries where they were still sold than they were worth after that.) So, how old a Yugo were they driving when Sunnie was born? And, perhaps more importantly, why? Time for a retcon.

When she was born, did he say, “Yu go girl.”

Have not thought about Yugo’s in a long time.

The best thing about the Yugoslav was the rear window defroster. It kept your hands warm when you pushed it.

Years back I had a friend who owned one of the few Yugos that ran consistently. He had it for almost 10 years and only did routine maintenance and a couple of minor repairs. It was nothing short of a miracle. I say miracle, that is. (Sorry. Had a Foghorn Leghorn moment.)

Where did they get a Yugo? I’d imagine they were pretty scarce in the US. Oh, good job, Joe (AND Marcy!)

On that note I recommend the movie Drowning Mona.

Knew a guy who bought a Yugo. He was showing it off and getting ready to take a couple of us on a little drive. The gearshift came right off in his hand!!

Back in the olden days.

Born at 11:13 AM in an East Chicago, IN hospital on 08-12-1973. And I always wait until it’s official before getting birthday rewards, or in last year’s case, the first of two shingles shots (wasn’t wasting any time on that!). Unless I’m working on my birthday, then I’ll get my free Starbucks Frappuccino on my way in. Wearing my birthday tiara and sash.

My third child was born in an ambulance. He was 2 weeks late and then he couldn’t make it to the hospital!

I was almost born in the elevator. So it explains the ups and downs of life.

Years ago, a lady was driving across the “Big Mac”, (the bridge connecting the upper and lower peninsulas), when a big gust of wind blew up under her Yugo and over the side she went into Lake Huron. Said she was driving too fast in such a little car. Sadness!!

Jojo and I share a birthday

Right after Sunny was born, I moved to an area whose newspaper didn’t carry Jump Start. Years later I joined Gocomics & was delighted to rediscover it. By then, they had four children. I was so bummed that I missed out on the births of JoJo and the twins!

Yugo’s were a standing joke for a really bad car before the World Wide Web caught on.
