Speaking Fish?

They certainly don’t pay them in fish

Why the species-ism..? All are great eating!

I’ve never had trout. I’ll bet it’s good.

Brook trout are eastern species. Others not as common in Pennsylvania.

Do they even know how to identify a trout? Can they distinguish it from bass, sunfish, bluegills, perch, or even catfish?

In 1976 I was a camp counselor. Campers were at camp for 8 weeks, plus we had a week of orientation. For 9 weeks work I was paid $200. Granted that also included a place to sleep and meals. Google thinks the minimum wage then was $2.30 an hour.Counselors probably still don’t make much.

Just ask for its ID.

Ah, brookies are easily distinguished from the others — mostly in being smaller, as adults.

In the east, rainbow trout are not a native species. Brown trout are not native to the Americas. Brook trout are the only native species on the counselor’s list. The lake must be quite cold, since brook trout prefer colder water.

I don’t eat fish so what’s the difference?

I’m sure that all the fish will tell the kids that they are brown trout. (“Of course I’m a brown trout! Can’t you tell?”)

So, toss em all back?

This would be the time to TEACH them how to tell the difference!
