    Could use some clarification here. Is that pie from an old country, or old pie from any country?

    Pie was a means to preserve fruit before refrigeration. It was also originally a breakfast food.

    Simple Simon met a pieman,

    Going to the fair;

    Says Simple Simon to the pieman,

    Let me taste your ware.

    Says the pieman to Simple Simon,

    Show me first your penny;

    Says Simple Simon to the pieman,

    Indeed I have not any.

    The wagon carrying away the pies should have “pie wheels”. That’s the way I remember it being in the Old Country.
