I’m thinking that the junk by the roadside is the remains of previously eaten cars. Reminds me of the joke about a dragon who liked knights—crunchy on the outside with a gooey center.

The last time I saw a similar thing, the cat smiled widely and disappeared, leaving only his smile behind.
