Depends on how fresh the tacos are, LA… And, we were All immigrants at one time or another, this is true. The bottom line is keeping these children will cost $$$$ which should be applied to our own peoples First, especially those who belong to the Native American Nations and those who are African-Americans. We have treated both groups abysmally, and need to straighten that out before going outside of our own backyard.
You have to understand human nature. The basic human being is one nasty creature. When times are good like the 1920’s or the period post WW2 up to 2008 most people are fat dumb and happy. After the good times jobs became scarce and people had to scratch and claw to survive, not so much after 2008 due to social programs. So it is no surprise that the public screamed that the government needs to close the border and eject illegals. The only ones who didn’t scream were the ones that were still fat dumb and happy.

This argument is similar to the one used by many racists: “AFRICANS HISTORICALLY ASSISTED SLAVERS AND ENSLAVED OTHER AFRICANS” Yes, since Native American (and African) tribes viewed themselves as independent nations rather than as the homogeneous mass that most Europeans viewed them there were wars between nations – much like the English and the French of the same period. Does this really prove that Native Americans were better off after Europeans spread disease and forced them off their ancestral lands? Is that your white sheet poking out there indie or do you just enjoy non-sequitur arguments?
I never implied that the FACTS were (or could possibly be) racist, I did however imply that they were the sort of FACTS that racist people like to hide behind – if the shoe fits, wear it.
As to your argument being a non-sequitur I repeat my question: how does the FACT that Native American people engaged in warfare amongst themselves forgive their wholesale slaughter and displacement by Europeans? One thing has nothing to do with the other and by definition that’s a non-sequitur argument.
Like most of us, my family is made up of immigrants, but LEGAL immigrants. My great-grandfather respected the laws of our new country to apply, and receive, permission to immigrate from Canada to the USA in the late 1860’s. What I object to the the idea that Illegal Immigration by crossing the border in the dead of night is equivalent to those who respected the law of the land and came to the USA in accordance to the law. Every nation has the right and moral obligation to protect their borders. Even Mexico (usually) deports Illegals back to Guatemala or El Salvador when they are found. What’s wrong with the USA to do the same? It’s nothing about “racism”, the law is the law. It applies to all, or to none. My wife and I sponsored a athlete from Zimbabwe on her quest to become an American Citizen. She made it two years ago. The problem is that we have a paralyzed, bureaucratic immigration system that takes 15 years, a dozen lawyers (and $20,00!) for someone to legally apply to become a resident, then a citizen. That’s the problem!
Why so shouty, indie? don57 did some yeoman’s work today, so I’m not going to engage with the “content” of your posts. Let me instead say this: if you want to highlight text, or make it look different here, you can do three things. You can put underscores on either side of your text to make it italic, like this. You can put asterisks on either side of your text to make it bold, like this, or you can go for broke and do both, for bold italic. Now go forth and format, and don’t say I never did nothin’ for ya.
