Chepe: There was a major credit card privacy breach by hackers at Home Depot. Pepe: The safest spot to spend your money at a Home Depot is in the day laborer parking lot. Hashtag "cashonly."
There are a few maddening things about this Home Depot breach. Several of its computer security employees had been warning the company for years about security issues and were ignored, with management telling them “we sell hammers.” And the company’s former security architect is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for techno-sabotage of a former employer and has a history of using technology for revenge. Company management has shown through their actions that they don’t care about their customers’ security, something that anyone planning on shopping there should keep in mind. (Oh, and that cash-only crack? At least one member of Home Depot’s computer security team “warned friends to use cash when shopping at the retailer’s stores.”)
