I kind of like the Australian system. You’re required to vote as a civic duty. Any attempt to hinder voting is a crime. Takes care of two of our big issues. Of course, that still leaves the big money issue, but one thing at a time.

If your starting point is to limit and not increase suffrage, it only proves your lack of serious ideas.

Texas is literally using Gestapo tactics to intimidate voters. They actually went to homes of voters who signed a petition to let voters decide to legalize aborights in their state. Flo is also using similar methods to intimidate voters

Republicans only win presidential elections because of the outdated, obsolete electoral college.

It’s true. Folks around here will drive hundreds of miles and camp out for collegiate sporting events but won’t stand in line to vote. Turnout in this state is typically well below 50 percent.

Apathy has never been a friend to anyone and intimidation is a foe for everyone.

Illegals can’t vote in any state. The instance of any even trying is hard to find. An illegal is not going to risk being caught by trying to vote.

Paul Weyrich is widely regarded as the “founding father of the conservative movement”. He founded ALEC and co-founded the Heritage Foundation, Moral Majority, Council for National Policy, and Free Congress Foundation, among others.

Speaking in 1980 at a right-wing conference in Dallas, Weyrich set out the case for voter suppression: “I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people…. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”

The right wing and GOP are still acting on his advice to this day. Why? Because it works!

The Republicans have won the popular vote ONCE in the past 8 presidential elections, Shrub’s second election. If we’d had an honest Supreme Court at the time, he wouldn’t have won his first election.
