Love the scrotum she’s wagging in the last panel.

I always wonder if the people who object to words on the first page of a book read the rest of it.

Of course, after the book censoring, the number of boys found in school bathrooms sticking venomous snakes down their pants became so low as to be unreportable.

Had to look up the book. I like the plot, the characters (especially their names) and the setting. One book our fifth-graders were required to read was, Holes by Louis Sachar, another controversial read.

Stranger than fiction. Thanks for telling us the tale, Ms. Lay. (Have any of your works been banned because of your last name appearing on the cover?)

I don’t think any book banners do that level of research.

This book is sure to come up for First Amendment review by SCROTUS.

… along with the James Brown song, Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag.

Don’t blow up the earth in the first chapter, Douglas Adams advised.

How terribly fragile we are. Just like a scrotum.

Moral of the story. If those who want to ban books informed themselves, they would stop wanting to ban books.

Sadly, it won’t be long before Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451” is a reality. Both ends of the spectrum want to ban speech that they deem offensive to their side.

Strangely, the only censorship I experienced was my mom breaking my record of Steppenwolf’s The Pusher Man because of the GDs. We read books about book burnings but never experienced them.
