But there have been a few “Liō” cartoons that have speech balloons excluding this one. One was where Liō is relaxing in a giant housefly’s bowl of soup and the fly calls out the waiter.
If i remember right the one with lio in the soup had a bubble but was just gibberish in the bubble, lines, no letters, dont think it qualified as a voice baloon.
I want Lio to guard the movie theater the next time I go. First for the obvious reason (I work in Aurora and yes, unfortunately, I do have ties to one of the 12) and second for the people who just want to talk through the whole show.
The Little King never bowed to speech balloons. Non Sequitur unfortunately has. Leo still holding to the glyph his self. Best Non ever published was the true life cycle of a bug. Little guy hatches, predators set on him. He grows a leg, the mantis corners him under a leaf, He sprouts wings and flies away with a big grin. Last panel is 2 buggy eyes in the middle of a big splat on a windshield. That one is mounted in a non-acid archival album.
ps Wjack – see sunday’s for Lio’s use of the speech balloon. I think there was also one where there was a glyph of an eyeball a plus mark and a hacksaw. Run that rhebus together.

Actions speak louder than words. And a Garand rifle is an awful lot of action, just where did Lio get it from.

Nice to see Robert Crumb make a guest drawing. Could Fritz the Cat be next?

Not only armed, but he’s fixed bayonet! Lio’s serious about keeping out dialog balloons; he’s ready to pop them!
