Puts e in mind of one of my favorite stories, “Barbie’s Inferno” (though it was the little girl setting the dollhouse on fire because she wanted to play with her brother’s fire truck.)

When business gets slow in the fire department, the fire department becomes an arsonist.

Hey, is Lio interested in this cute little Blondie? Does he want to set fire to her dollhouse just so he can rush in and put out its fire and start one in her heart out of admiration for the big, brave fireman? What would Eva Rose say? —Uhh, scratch that last question….

Another volunteer fire fighter arrested for arson. Second time in as many years it’s happened in the St Louis Metro Area.

It would be funny if it never really happened. Several massive fires in Colorado have been started by adults employed to protect us from fire.

Monkeyhead — the phenomenon you mentioned is all too common; makes the strip a little sad instead of funny. Sometimes it’s just for the adrenalin rush, sometimes out of boredom, sometimes due to a psychological issue called “Munchausen’s syndrome by proxy” where someone causes a problem in secret so they can be a hero by rescuing in public. It most commonly occurs when a caregiver (or parent) deliberately causes harm to the person for whom they are caring in order to be seen as the rescuer. Sad.
