At he Crossroads at Mayhew Junction Mississippi, the train stop diner had as the specialty of the house… pig brains and eggs, aka pork brains and scrambled eggs. It was a part way between Mississippi State University and MSCW, then known as Mississippi State College for Women. MSU had mostly male students, so the road to MSCW was heavily traveled. In those days, late sixties and early seventies, it was also situated in a “wet” county whereas MSU was in a “dry” county. So the nearest place to buy alcohol was at the Crossroads bar, also contributing to the heavy traffic. The brains and eggs, a quaint Southern delicacy, was a rite of passage for those bold enough to taste it.

You didn’t see the floating brains before you took a drink? Serves you right, Mr. Oblivious.
