This stuff cries out to be animated. I remember one festival compilation (one of the first I remember, back in the 70s), maybe FANTASTIC was in the name, that had just that: someone carrying out the concept literally. It was back when reprints of the strip were hard to come by, but I’d seen this one somewhere.
I still have the hardback volume Woody Gelman reprinted around 1975, which was a genuinely mind-blowing thing to sit and read. It stands next to a more recent reprint that makes it look like a trade paperback by comparison.
