I’m curious too. Seriously. How is steer manure different from cow or bull manure? Different hormones? Why is sterr manure sold instead of just cattle manure? Wouldn’t there be more cow manure than either steer or bull manure? I guess steers are more likely to end up in feedlots, where perhaps manure is more easily collected??? But aren’t the big dairies CAFOs?
Also, I thought a steer was a male calf who had been castrated before reaching sexual maturity, that is, before he became a bull. Am I making myself clear as mud? Isn’t an ox a bull that’s been castrated?
