This looks a little like I should be able to fold it in to reveal a hidden message, Al Jaffee style.

All in favor? Sorry, but no.

They can’t even agree to approve each other’s pork barrel expenditures.

Our government was founded to be adversarial, to be divided. The majority governs, the minority governs when they become the majority. We’ve been divided since Adams and Jefferson, and sometimes worse than today. Freedom means that others can have a differing view, and usually do. That is a Liberal principle and ideal our Founders established. conservatives want everyone in lockstep. It’s easier to manage.

“America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, ‘cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say "You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.” – The American President, 1995

They could agree on something if it were important enough for them to stop putting party before country. I know, I know. I’m not holding my breath either. I still remember when the Governator took office and the Repubs were excited to finally have one of their own in power at last, then got miffed that he was willing to work with – gasp! – Democrats and became obstructionist. That’s when I started to drift away from the party I was raised in all my life. Mom didn’t live long enough to see me vote Democrat. Thank God.
