I am tolerant with bees and wasps. They are generally non-aggressive.
Bees are usually more interested in the flowers they visit than people walking by.
Wasps prey on other insects that are damaging to crops. The problem with wasps is that they sometimes build their nests in inconvenient places (inconvenient for us people, that is).
Hornets and yellow jackets will go out of their way to sting you.
Yellow jackets: created by Satan in evil imitation of bees.
Not really, but yeah. OTOH, I have watched yellow jackets stripping to the bone a hapless dead vole. Scavengers have their place, too. On the OTHER hand, did they kill the vole themselves?
Right now the bees taken over my hummingbird feeder. They’ll be there for about an hour at a time, 3 or 4 times a day. Someone suggested that these are the male drones that have been booted from the hive for the winter.

Not so tolerant this year 6 wasp stings and 4 bee stings. The wasps I get I disturbed their nests but the bees! – I was 50 meters from the hives!

I wish they’d just say “We’re going to stab you now” and not try to sugarcoat it

The sting of a hornet is much more dangerous than that of a yellow jacket. However, in my experience the hornet is less aggressive.
