I use one of those plastic bag sealer clamps. I clamp it on the bottom and slowly wiggle it up to the top. It was easier in the days when the tubes were made of metal (rolled it up) but the makers realised we were getting too much paste out of the tube, so they made them out of plastic.
I watched a number of those Ted Talks when they first started and found them to be quite interesting but more recently, they have really become inane and filled with self-help gurus and quasi-spiritualists. The ones explaining how the first super-computer was built or NASA’s attempts to create the first FTL ships is more my cup-of-tea.
There’s a little plastic tool that I use. It has a slot that feeds the end of the tube into a roller. Turning the handle rolls up the tube until you reach the bulge of the toothpaste. Cool ;-)

I know, I know. First you had to believe in yourself. (And your book will be available at the table in the lobby.)
