He’s sacrificing a pawn … but it looks like the other guy’s king should be in check … and is it in check by a bishop? … and it appears that he has 2 bishops – each on a white square.
… and the guy with black pieces should also have the sacrificing-a-pawn guy (with the white pieces) in check with his queen.
Oh wait … now I see … now it makes sense … they’re playing on a 6×8 chess board (six squares wide). The rules are different for 6×8 chess.
