My wife has to say “we’d better be going” three times before I even rise from the chair. There’s always one more thing to bring up.
Time is relative.
My husband and his relatives would take almost an hour after the first “goodbyes” to get out the door and then into the car. I thought it was an Italian thing! Everyone just laughs as they know it’s going to happen!
I used to ask for the keys so I could listen to the radio while they said their goodbyes. That made it more or less tolerable.
