Way back in the early 60’s there was a pioneer program in the Anaheim Union HSD that was touted nationwide as the wave of the future and I was lucky enough to be a student then. Yes, it covered the “biological parts” but that was only a very small part of what was called “Family Life and Sex Education”. Most of the classes focused on relationships, how to get along with a spouse and children and even how to argue constructively. Unfortunately, a small, vocal group of parents got together and actually lied about “what goes on in those classes” and got it gutted and eventually stopped completely. (They told district administrators that there were actual demonstrations of “the act” in class, done with life sized sex dolls. Hogwash!)

I hope that I imparted more information than I ever got out of my parents but my son hasn’t passed on much, if anything to my grandson.

Give him time. Some mature faster than others. Social aspects are complicated.
