I am impressed that Frank and Nancy still have some vinyl to play on the turntable, though then again this strip was written in the early ’90s (I think G&K said they started this retro strip 28 years after the first Luann came out) so some people, like the Baby Boomers (Frank and Nancy) and 20 something college kids like myself at the time who had a turntable and cassette deck but no funds for a CD player (got some killer vinyl at the used record stores in Tallahassee and Tuscaloosa in the ’80s and ’90s) may not have put their turntable into the attic along with the peach crate full of LPs (some paid decent coin for these crates at Peaches Records or The Record Bar, I got mine for free from working at Publix in high school in the ’80s). I think the CD boom was coming into effect with competitive prices, many people were also simply buying cassettes since disco was still popular thus this was about the time that vinyl was in its last days as a widely distributed product. Now the CD is as outdated as the cassette and 8-Track to many…..
