That’s called AV guys getting out of class to go play in the AV room, until a teacher catches them.

Well, Mr. Fogarty, you just killed a class make-out moment.

Do they still use those old things? They were using them in the 60’s when I went to school!

I always pretended to be the teacher’s pet, it has great benefits. I was always sent on errands, to the AV room, the office and elsewhere, I always knew exactly how long I could push it before I had to get back to class. The teachers also would bump my grade up if it was close.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s with films and filmstrips. I “get” the advantage of VHS and DVDs in schools. But films and filmstrips could be shown on a large screen and have more impact. Most classrooms in the 80s and beyond had a 27 inch monitor…maybe 32 inch if they had money. Not bad, but not the same impact.

Remember that episode of THE FAR SIDE with the military slide show where a slide showing a nuclear mushroom got put in upside down?
