Two things:

1) Nancy did all the work in the DeGroot Household.

2) Luann was just as big a SLOB as her brother was.

As a teen, these many years ago now, I wasn’t allowed to leave a mess or be a slob. I tested my parents on it a couple of occasions and learned that it was more beneficial to keep things tidy and organized than it was to not only clean up my mess, but my little brother’s mess, the barn, etc. Those lessons, though they seemed onerous at the time, have served me well in later years.

When our kids got into high school, we told them that they were responsible for doing their own laundry. We walked them through it, step-by-step, showed them how to do it. They thought we were kidding. They ran out of clean clothes, then started crying to us. We told them to start doing their own laundry. They finally figured out that they needed to step up and take some responsibility for themselves. And since they use the vast majority of the bath towels, they’re required to wash, fold, and put those away as well.

Funny, that certainly wasn’t my life as a teen. We were made to clean up and to help around the house.

All Nancy has to do is order the other three to get up & help out.

He’s got it right……

I would have expected those wishes to be reversed. Nancy should want to go back to a younger, more carefree life and he should be missing his glory days of high school. In my opinion only.
