When I was a kid, I got $1 a week, and I stopped getting any allowance once I was old enough to babysit.
Never got any kind of allowance. Food, clothes and a roof with four walls.
I imagine the $5 was monthly.

A twelve dollar increase would have more than tripled my allowance. I got five dollars a week.
Fifty cents a week just doesn’t cut it.
Aren’t chores suppose to go up with the allowance?
