Frank and Nancy have never acted like that. It’s a short haircut. If he was going to boot camp it would look exactly the same, why would you expect a nose ring? Was this all Brad’s imagination?
Love panel 6. That’s about the same reaction I had when my friend accidently gave my husband a much too short buzzcut. It really made him look like a criminal.
It would take a lot to get me to buzz my hair, as I’ve always kept it a bit long (sometimes more than a bit). However it isn’t really that unusual anymore. Lots of otherwise perfectly mature grown men seem to want to buzz or even shave their heads these days (you couldn’t pay me enough to do that…or maybe you could). But even in past years it wasn’t that uncommon, such as for high school football or military boot camp.
A fellow I worked with had his hair buzzed for football when he was in high school. His parents were extremely upset about it, since they had been in Europe during WWII and to them it looked the same as what the Nazis did to concentration camp prisoners.

So she’s a redhead? There goes my “Brad only has one preference,” theory

Diane to the rescue. Can’t be all bad if she’s got red hair!

I think it’s an improvement. Sort of like he wears it today as a firefighter.
