Brad: TJ, when we were kids, you had a mom an' dad. Where are they now? TJ: Well, my dad got in some trouble-he's doin' time in prison-and my mom's sick and I take care of her. Brad: Sick? TJ: Yeah. she's got polymositis. It's a muscle disease. Brad: Oh. But how do you take care of her? You don't have a job or anything. TJ: oh, I pick up stuff here n' there. Is this all the soup you have?
I forget if his back story was ever told. He really is an important and complex character. I am glad the author added him to the strip.
