Principal Hightower's voice travels out of the office, "Fogarty, all year long your 3rd period students have been unruly, disrespectful and very loud." Inside the office, Hightower continues, "Has any teaching taken place?" Mr. F explains, "Well, as impossible as it seems..." Mr. F finishes, "I successfully taught myself to ignore them."
Sounds like a conversation I had with my principal one day, except that it was for my 1st, 4th, and 8th period classes. All Algebra, all freshmen and sophomores, and about half were Hispanic with limited English speaking skills. No ESL teacher there to help with translation either.
