as I said, the only alternative is for Luann to teach Rosa how to “guide Gunther” into saying the right things

This will work out fine … provided Luann shuts up and gets out of the way. I’ve got confidence.

everyone knows that she would not do a rejection (maybe even Gunther, who might be afraid of “how to say it” and not of her answer)

Luann, you can’t shame Gunther into shaping up. As unlikely as it may seem, he’s right about this. God help us all, and especially poor Rosa!

Gunther is in a position that most teens of his rank on the social totem pole would kill for and he’s thinking of taking baby steps. (facepalm) C’mon Gunth, Rosa’s totally into you better not wimp out.

I just hope he doesn’t take too long to learn the ropes. But Luann has a point: Gunther might just take till next year to say the right things to Rosa. Greg might just drag this out.

I just noticed something, Luann’s shouldn’t be one to talk on this issue. I mean if the strip played out in real time she’d have never had a real boyfriend (her occasional dates don’t seem to have the intimacy or exclusiveness that an actual couple would). Besides not being as shy as Gunther (which I don’t recall him being when he met Rosa when she complimented him for winning the dress award) she’s just as bad as he is when it comes to actual dating.

Remember that Rosa said they would need to talk or argue for hours about literature? She’s gorgeous and as nerdy or more nerdy than Gunther. So all of Luann’s tutoring will look totally superficial and irrelevant because Gunther and Rosa will talk about stuff that really interests them both — and the two of them will quickly turn out to be the real thing while Luann will continue to futz around with Quill. My 2 cents

Luanne is PUSHING Gunthers “buttons”! – She’s gonna get him SO ‘ticked’ at HER, he won’t even notice, he’s – CALLED and ASKED Rosa to pizza and a movie …....UNTIL! – he realizes, he just asked Rosa to a pizza and a movie!

Gunther is right! He needs to develop his own approach with Rosa. Friendship and/or romance is not a “one size fits all” matter. He appreciates Luann’s help. But, realizes he has to do it in his own way and at his own pace.

E-GAD! What is needed for THESE two HERE right now is a sudden “SHOCK to System”.

Say like, Gunther and Luann walking out the front door of the Library only to FIND Rosa and Quill giving each other a VERY Passionate KISS….,

Luann WANTS to be helpful, but she comes across as being pushy – kinda like some women who nag their husbands into doing something they are not quite ready to do. I know that sometimes I have to study things out before I’m ready to start solving the problem. I see that in Gunther and I LOVE the square cornered icy “HA HA” word balloon.

Would it be too unreal if Rosa asked Gunther out?

I’m with Luann – with the debt & economics woes we face right now, there probably won’t be enough in his Social Security check to pay for both dinners…if there’s even enough money with which to cut a check by the time Gunther is eligible to receive one.

Yes, lonliness is forever. However, for some of us really screwed up souls, rejection can last almost as long. Like the first love of my life who dumped me forty plus years ago. it still hurts (even though I can say now with mature hindsight, it was the best thing for her).

No- Rosa should definitely ask Gunther out – I think that’s what will happen.

Luann, just go talk to Rosa and tell her she gotta help Gunther out by being the one to make the moves. Rosa will have to ask Gunther out otherwise she’d be drawing social security check when he does. Gunther is very shy and insecure. Like Brad. Toni was the assertive one and drew Brad out. Rosa needs to do the same.
