Typical male. Ignore the baby and have the mother deal with it. Get involved with the said baby when it grows older and resembles a human being in that they can walk, talk, and do stuff.

That’s kind of the point of the whole assignment . It’s really amazing what assumptions people have about how life and relationships really work – or, in fact, don’t.

Look at his eyes and facial expression. Right now, he’s thinking more along the lines of MAKING the baby, not CARING for the baby.

What an unwarranted assumption by Luann! Not only moms lose sleep or care for the infants in a solid family. But I like Quill’s twist; does Luann see the humor?

Actually, except for Rosa and Gunther, they are all handling the assignment just as a teenager would – not taking it seriously. Parenthood and homeownership is a serious slap in the face. They don’t feel like dealing with that now. Gunther and Rosa are using this assignment to find out about eachother. Good move.

Ah yes, Luann. It’s all about you. Take notes here, Quill. Otherwise she’ll give you a Gibbs headslap to bring you back to reality.

You think teenagers are the only ones who don’t take things seriously? The kinds of smart aleck answers these kids are giving are exactly the same kinds of remarks I get from my husband when I ask him serious questions. It took nearly 30 years to finally figure out how to get a serious answer from him. I say, “OK, I’m taking that as a ‘yes’, (or a ‘no’, depending on the question)” then turn and walk away. He’s very quick to give me his REAL answer then!

The school is making an academic subject out of something that you learn first by observing, then by doing. I’ve known a number of Aussies, and Quill’s humor is typical. Luann would learn more about his potential for being a father by observing him in action than by taking him seriously right now.

Yes Quill is just showing that he’s not ready for marriage. On the other hand, my x went to a quiet room at his mother’s apartment. That’s (one of the reasons) why I divorced him as soon as the kids were all full time in school.

:Yes, they’re teenagers and not ready to deal with this. If this assignment teaches them that they’re not ready for the responsibilities that having sex may impose, it will have served its purpose.

They’re just kids, joking around. But on some level the real demands of parenthood is sinking in. For many, they probably never thought about it before, which is the point of teaching this stuff.

Oh come on, he’s a teenager, he’s SUPPOSED to be immature! His brain isn’t even done growing yet, and even if you don’t think Greg’s making him be a little flippant to be funny (it is a comic strip, after all!) what his attitude is like now, at 17, won’t be the same when he’s ready to marry and/or have kids. The purpose here is to educate them, not let them remain ignorant; if everyone in the class were mature and middle aged and responsible, they wouldn’t be in high school and there’d be no strip.

This is also why teenagers don’t mate for life, nor should they – what you want out of a guy at 17 is not what you look for at 30.

It’s also why teenagers shouldn’t have kids – most are barely capable of taking care of themselves, let alone another person.

It’s funny how people think one kid is hard work. If they’re spoiled and you think you have to give them attention 24/7 and always know what theyre doing because you dont trust them then maybe.

If your kid is trustworthy so you don’t have to monitor them 24/7, then that’s usually due to the fact that you’ve put in the hard work and time raising them – see how it works? It’s not the same thing as being their friend or giving them everything they want when they want it.

" If they’re spoiled and you think you have to give them attention 24/7 and always know what theyre doing because you dont trust them then maybe"

Why don’t you try reading with comprehension as well as constructing a coherent sentence before you start ordering everyone around?

Not all parents think raising a kid is the same as showering them with attention. FYI, spoiling someone generally means indulging them and giving them what they want – which, by the way, isn’t particularly hard work since it just involves saying “yes”. If you can’t follow a simple argument and stop acting like a troll while you do it, maybe that missed naptime is more vital than you thought.

Then don’t read it, you have that option. Starting a fight and then ordering people to “shut up” may work on the playground, but not here. If you want to come like a childish jerk, you’re sure succeeding.

“Freedom of speech” refers to the First Amendment right which guarantees the government can’t censure or imprison you, it doesn’t give you the right to be libelous or abusive on a private site. But I wouldn’t expect you to know that, any more than I’d expect you to appreciate the irony of cloaking yourself in that right while insisting that others should shut up so only you can be heard.

When you start calling names and ordering people to shut up on a private site, which is what uclick is, you run the risk of getting bounced for abusing the Terms of Use, which you accepted when you created your account.

Let’s see I came back into civilization and got WIFI back. Let’s see what’s happenin with Luann…. Ooooh, good development (and humor) with the various couples. One couple, R&G, actually dealing with the issues; one couple, C&K, avoiding serious consideration; and one couple, L&Q, at odds (one serious – one not so much). If I were Luann, I’d lose patience with Quill – buuuuut maybe she’s just thinking he doesn’t get it – It’s a question SHE has to deal with – it really doesn’t involve him – so who cares what he wants to do (or not do). In actual practice, his attitude will cause some instant and ongoing friction that may be hard to repair. Lotsa humor and a good dose of reality.
