I hope we get a Delta storyline soon. She really needs an arc where the focus isn’t only on her activities. I liked the one where she had a crush on the teacher or when she liked Miguel (though the Miguel guy got old way fast). But yeah, Delta has a lot of potential.

is kind of unhealthy to be “so unselfish” that you forget about working for one’s own well being…………… Delta should get a few people to “mentor” into those projects she leaves, than concentrate in doing a great work in a few areas, instead of doing poor work in a lot of areas

    Hey, Delta?

There is an EVIL Woman at a local business You can bring Your Annoying Social Activism to bear on. Why don’t you go and Occupy Weenie World?

Or Better still FORGET being ‘HAPPY’ and….,Go on a DATE.Go to a Club.Go to a Movie.Go to a DANCE.Do SOMETHING that a NORMAL teenage a girl would do and have FUN for a change???

(Sigh) Time for COFFEE. That makes ME ‘HAPPY’.

    Well, THAT and RANTING….,

This reminds me of the Limeliters’ intro to ‘Gari Gari’, which went something like, “Some Russian Gypsy songs are about how happy it is to be miserable. Others are about how miserable it is to be happy. But this one is about how miserable it is to be miserable.”

interesting perspective……………… many people can’t think that people will like the person one is, they think people only like “what you show and do”

Actually, I think it would be like an unending round of public service announcements and I can’t imagine what sort of plot would entail that. I also can’t imagine anything more deadly – I don’t know if you remember the street cleaning arc but it was big stretch of nothing in the strip.

She used to be a part of the strip, but unconsciously or not, Greg’s made her into an caricature of an overscheduled activist with an overactive conscience, which is why we never see her any more. Now he doesn’t know what to do with her because she has no common interests with Luann and Bernice – she nevere dates because she has no time, and it appears she considers high school social whatever beneath her aims and goals.

Unless he decides he needs a “cause” or urban project to move the story, she remains missing in action.

Delta needs to be careful. Too much stress could cause her to come out of remission. Rockabore’s right; we need a good Delta story line, but I hope her getting sick again won’t be it.

Delta has to focus. Multitasking means that everything you try to do will not get done well. Eventually, she might become a politician and have a staff to assign to all of her concerns. Wouldn’t that be refreshing, a politician who actually cared for things?

I’m pretty sure Delta’s donated her parents to medical research and is living on her own.

After turning their bedroom into an annex for the local SPCA, of course.

It’s hard to stop something you love, but if Delta’s that busy she MUST drop at least one item. What good will she do all those causes when she’s in the hospital?

I really like “Luann”But I just have to comment on Mr. Evans drawing habits. . . Am I the only one that notices that whenever any of the characters is in a walking pose, they’re always drawn the same way. Look at the girls. . . They are always drawn with there nearest leg forward ( in this one they look like they’re marching together – hehe).Greg may be more comfortable drawing that pose but he may want to try switching that up sometimes.

Odd that you would say it’s a sad thing, Luann. I would have thought it was your quest. Otherwise, why would you be making your relationship with Quill, a relationship that could be the best you will ever have, nothing more than a miserable waste of time?

Just “Luann” is fine. This is not a one person show. Without a supporting cast, the material would be limited. As would a strip where every thing occuring would have to involve Luann. The strip would be like others where an entire subject is covered in three panels. We wouldn’t all be waiting for tomorrow when the Toni apology continues so we can see when Brad learns of TJ’s involvement.

NG, you totally misinterpreted that statement. You also claimed Greg wanted this forum closed down in favor of his blog site, which wasn’t accurate, either..Greg regrets naming the comic “Luann” NOT because it’s “just Luann”, therefore limiting, and isn’t more inclusive of all the characters in it, but because of the name itself. Making the title more “expansive” wouldn’t solve the “problem” as Greg sees it. He strongly identitfies with Luann, especially now that she’s in high school, not the others in her universe..“And the strip IS called “Luann” – even though she may be (to some) the dullest title character in the comics." [10/25/10].“The name “Luann” occurred to me as I was driving around town and spotted a truck from a construction company called “Louetto.” Something about that name had the right clunky sound I was wanting for my title character. But “Louetto” sounded a bit Italian and too masculine so I massaged it into Luann. “DeGroot” was picked from a phone book. As a name for an average, clumpy dumpy teen, Luann DeGroot is fine. As the name of a comic strip, “Luann” is too slippery, hard to spell, tricky to pronounce and remember. “Zits” would have been much better. Or even “DeGroot.” " [11/2/11].It doesn’t help matters that there’s an imbelic Lu Ann in the Apartment 3-G strip.

I agree with Singingguy44. Greg’s depiction of legs is not always great, but he did a good job when Ann was sitting on the desk or when Luann was in a bathing suit. But “legs” waste too much space in a cartoon (unless you’re Snoopy or Charlie Brown). The same goes for too much background, like Prince Valiant, for example. Greg is at his best from the waist up, hiding legs behind a desk or table. That way you can focus on the characters close up and can appreciate the way he catches expressions. Greg’s cartoons are clean, simple, and attractive (especially Tiffany, Crystal, & Ann Eiffel). Cartoons are also semi-surrealistic drawings: dots & dashes for eyes and exaggerated lips, but judging from the loyalty of his fans, everyone “sees” them as real people. I only recently started reading Luann, so everything I say is first impressions. But I will say I enjoy it and respect Greg’s talent.

@Been There- I’ve helped with neighborhood projects lately using my own talents and as a young mom back in 60-70s I did lots in scouting and PTA, but now very germophobic etc so no hospital type volunteering. I could still volunteer for art projects for kids – just look for what you want to do. I’m also just 74 and prefer to try to teach my large group of friends about the benefits of eating healthy food. I only want to live while I can enjoy a good life, and I think more people need to learn how all their favorite foods can help with a bit of tweeking.

I’m betting it’s a return to Elwood. and that fershlugginer movie That’s the only real thread, other than Gunther and Rosa, that Greg’s left dangling, and I think he’ll make us wait on Gunther’s sweating over his new romance for a while longer.
